QOBUZ X MISS GRIT, BARRIE, CARAMELO HAZE, DOOMCANNON: EXCLUSIVE SXSW EPS OUT NOW
Today, the Hi-Res streaming service Qobuz is exclusively releasing the next four EPs from their inaugural Qobuz Sessions at SXSW collection of live-to-record EPs performed at SXSW 2023, and mastered by GRAMMY-nominated, NYC-based engineer Sarah Register (Big Thief, Julien Baker, Kurt Vile).
The all-independent lineup of artists whose EPs are out today includes: acclaimed NY-based indie rock artist Miss Grit (Margaret Sohn); the left-of-center pop project from Brooklyn-based Barrie; the newly-formed all-star outfit featuring Beto Martínez, Alex Chavez, Victor “El Guámbito” Cruz, and John Speice, called Caramelo Haze; and London-based jazz composer and multi-instrumentalist DoomCannon.
Each EP was recorded in end-to-end, 24-bit Hi-Res at East Austin's KMFA Studios during Qobuz' Sessions last March, to give listeners a true “like you were there” sound experience.
EPs from Yazmin Lacey, Daniel Villarreal, and Shana Cleveland were released in December, and were also mastered by Sarah Register.
More information on Qobuz' inaugural SXSW EP collection and the platform’s “boutique in a superstore world” approach can be found below in the press release we put out to announce the first round of EPs in December.
