QOBUZ PARTNERS WITH FESTIVAL BACH MONTRÉAL AND OFF-BACH TO PRESENT THREE WEEKS OF CLASSICAL MUSIC CONCERTS

Qobuz, the high-quality music platform, has teamed up with Festival Bach Montréal (FBM), the annual 3-week classical music festival which brings around thirty events (paid and free concerts, public rehearsals, discussions, children's concert, etc.) to more than 20,000 local and international festival-goers in Montreal, for a special partnership that will highlight both Qobuz and the festival’s commitment to providing their audience with best-in-class classical music experiences. Off-Bach, a free event happening in conjunction with the official festival, is also partnering with Qobuz and will take place during this time, presenting 11 additional recitals from local Quebec artists, all free of charge.

The partnership with FBM and Off-Bach forwards Qobuz’s goal of providing premium programming to audiences through in-person events as well as online. As part of the partnership, Festival Bach will create its own exclusively curated Qobuz playlist, and for six weeks, from November until early December, will be releasing one exclusive, artist-focused playlist per week on Qobuz’ website and classical genre page. There will also be a special Festival Bach Montreal-authored article on the Qobuz Magazine, and, at the festival itself (both FBM and Off-Bach), Qobuz will be on-site to provide attendees the highest-quality classical streaming experience in full 24-bit Hi-Res.

Festival Bach Montréal is just one of the many music-first partnerships Qobuz has forged this year, including collaborations with the Memphis Listening Lab, Deutsche Grammophon, Soho Radio, the Chicago-based indie label International Anthem, and more, all with the goal of bringing the top music experiences possible to its hardcore music-lover listener base.

“We are excited to partner with Festival Bach Montreal and to highlight J.S.Bach’s timeless music in both a live setting and on Qobuz in 24-bit Hi-Res, offering a comprehensive high-quality classical music listening experience”, remarks Dan Mackta, Managing Director of North America and Northern Europe at Qobuz.

“The online streaming platform Qobuz allows reaching new audiences across North America and featuring outstanding local Montreal as well as international artists performing at the Festival”, concludes Alexandra Scheibler, artistic director of the Festival Bach Montréal.

About Festival Bach Montréal

Created in 2005, by Alexandra Scheibler, Festival Bach Montréal has become a fixture for major national and international performers of Bach’s music. The first edition of Festival Bach Montréal attracted 3,500 people, and since then over the past 15 years has grown, exponentially, to over 20,000 participants each year. Festival Bach Montréal consistently brings together outstanding artists from across Canada and from abroad and has become one of the most popular classical music events. FBM’s primary mission is to share performances by world-renowned soloists, ensembles, and orchestras who excel in Bach’s repertoire. In addition to established artists, the Festival also supports and promotes up-and-coming Canadian talent. The festival reaches out to the local community through educational activities, multicultural experiences, and accessible, affordable events that specifically serve the interests of a culturally diverse, urban population.

All of Bach-Académie de Montréal’s programs (Festival Bach Montréal, OFF-Festival Bach, Orchestre Festival Bach Montréal, it’s Children’s Concert program) serve as catalysts for a renewed appreciation for classical music within the Montréal community, with accessible events reaching broad and diverse audiences.

With the goal to provide access to established as well as new audiences alike to traditional works, Festival Bach Montréal has concentrated on innovation in classical music concerts. The Festival consistently strives to find alternative ways in which to showcase this repertoire, be it through atypical concert spaces, through its producing and commissioning as well as new distribution channels.
